Turning a corner!!

I have been amazed at how some of you have not had to have paid meds hardly at all. I am almost 4 weeks out and have had to take them everyday especially at bedtime. Thankfully, I went pain med free last night and have been great today...I know I am getting stronger and better everyday but this is a major breakthrough to me...I was beginning to wonder if I was going to have to take them forever..lol....

Re: Turning a corner!!

Congratulations! That must feel really great to not need them as much anymore.

I'm glad to hear that you're making such great progress!

Re: Turning a corner!!

CONGRATS!!!!!!!! I know how wonderful you must feel being off the pain meds.

I, too, admire the ones who have been off them for a while. I was off them for a week but I now need ibuprofen during the day and my pain meds at night. I am only 3 weeks out so I guess I'm expecting alot but I am tired of needing drugs.

Re: Turning a corner!!

Four weeks was my real turning the corner point too! At 5 weeks, I jumped my recovery even much more - feeling close to 90% better, and at 6 - 98%!! I am 8 weeks post op today, and really feel great, and normal for the most part. If I sneezed hard, or really do a lot of cleaning, shopping, etc.. I can get a heavy tummy.

Re: Turning a corner!!

Hi
Your surgery was 2 days before mine, and I am still taking pain meds. I didn't like the narcotics so I stopped taking them 3 days post op, but I am still taking ibuprofin and tylenol during the day. I had a TVH (kept ovaries) so I don't have incisions to deal with. I have discomfort when I am up on my feet too long. It frustrates me, but I have learned that we all heal differently and we can't compare ourselves to the others we read about. Keep your spirits up! We WILL get better.

Re: Turning a corner!!

thanks all for your encouraging words....I did overdo it Fri & Sat and have had to take some pain rx today but I am ok with it, I just have to learn that what my mind thinks I can do is not necessarily what my body can do just yet...it is a learning experience....
