Yikes!

OK, I just hung up with the nurse to schedule my preop for 5/29 and suddenly I was hit with a mild panic attack. I have been pretty cool with the whole idea of surgery and now I am scared
I am having a TAH with vertical incision on 6/4 and I am not second guessing the need for it, but guess I am afraid of the unknown.
I totally trust my doctor and know that I will be at a great hospital-I am suddenly very afraid of the pain- even though I have spent years being uncomfortable.
I am sure that what I am feeling is nothing new, I guess I just needed to say ( or write!) it so that I can try to get over the anxiety I am feeling- it usually makes me feel better to admit when I am concerned about something-

Join the club!!!!! My hyster is not for 3 more weeks and I have already had a minor meltdown
But I think it is good to deal with it now rather than later. You will be fine and happier than ever once you start your recuperation. I just know it!! Having a hyster is a B I G deal it' not just some little something that you just decided to do one day. I am sure it took you months maybe even years to decide that it was right for you.

Mine is in two weeks and when I think about it I feel anxiety, lately it is like I am living in a fog of pre-op like a dream or something.

I have mixed feelings like most of us and am excited yet scared.... I hope when my time comes I am better off than I expect to be...

My TLH/BSO is ten days from today! Tomorrow is pre op and pre registration! I am really starting to freak. I know I am in good hands and these surgeries are done every day I am just so scared about what will happen with me. Things are different for everyone and I am afraid the worst will happen when it comes to my day on the table. Sorry to ramble I am glad I am not the only one with the same worries!

Hi Ladies! All of you are having a normal response. Those of us who have gone before you also have had the pre-op anxieties and nerves. A few things that helped calm me were: setting up a location in the living room for me to roost during my semi-mobility -- preparing that spot with books, coloring books, blanket, pillow; another was shopping (inexpensively) for loose but soft and cuddly lounge clothing like gowns, soft fleecy sweat pants. I hope this helps you all some.

So how is this for irony? Yesterday I am freaking out over preop & this morning I get the period from (you know where)! Heavy, crampy, sick to my stomach- now I am ready to do the surgery myself!! My DH was so concerned he wanted me to call & see if I could have the surgery sooner- sweet man- I will definitely keep him! My body is having one last hurrah I guess! I am no longer nervous, but am now looking forward to 6/4.
