Saw the General Surgen

Hi Ladies,

I had my apt with the general surgen this last week. The good news is there is nothing wrong with my GI tract. I know that's good news. I am having spasms in the colon, but there's nothing they can do and he thinks that fider will help that. So I get to take Metamucile now. Yum, yum. Owell, it's just something else to take daily anymore. He said it'll take a couple of months to "retrain" my colon. And as far as the blood, they have no idea where it's coming from. He said that if it was endo he would have seen it. So...I am no where closer now than before to finding out why I'm in so much pain. I know it sounds wrong, but I wish they would find something wrong, if they find something that means they can help me fix it or treat it. I really hate the "I don't know what's wrong with you" answer. I hope you all are doing well!! God bless.

{{Donna}},
I'm sorry you have no answers to your pain. Hopefully the Fiber will help some with the Colon. Is the General Surgeon the one who did your last surgery? Endo can hide in many places if this is what you suspect is there a Specialist near you could see? My thoughts are with you. Hope you can feel better soon

Hi Donna, Sorry to hear about the problems you are having. Hopefully fiber will help. I was taking metamucil for fiber also. I really couldn't stand the taste of it. They make something called Citrucel. It comes it caplet form. It really seems to help me. You may want to try it instead of the metamucil. Check with your doctor or pharmacist to see what they think. Good luck.

Saw the General Surgen

Sheri,

No the General Surgen was the one who I was refered to for my bowel problems, he did a flex sig and ordered the other GI test. A OB/GYN did my surgeries (I've had 3 different doctors here) Unfortunently I'm a military dependent, my dh is in the army so I really don't have much choice in who I see. Things have gotten better in the last few years. At least now I have one family doctor who actually knows me now instead of seeing anyone and everyone each time I go in. I've been lucky with the OB/GYNs here, I've had good ones each time. My first and second one's retired But the one I see now is nice and he is very through.

Looks like you had 2 surgeries too. Can I ask why? You are the first one I've seen who's had a hyst and then shortly afterwards had the ovaries taken out. Hope I'm not being noesy. It's just nice to know that I'm not the only one. Thanks!

Pamm,

Thanks! I do have a question for you about the tablets. Do you know how much (how many grams) of fiber are in the tablets? My dh and I looked at them and we couldn't tell! Maybe we're just didn't look right. But I know my doctor wanted me to take the one that had the most in it. I bought the metamucile (sp?) wafers. They aren't to terrible. Not great, but I choke them down. If the tablets are high enough in fiber I'd rather take them. What's a few more pills? Are you still taking them? Did they help? Hate to be noesy about this stuff. Thanks.

Donna, Yes I still take them occasionally and they do help. On my bottle it states that each caplet contains 500 mg Methylcellulose. Maybe ask your pharmacist to compare the Citrucel caplets and the metamucille tablets to see it they are similar enough. Hang in there.

Donna,
I had my right ovary removed for an unknown mass and multiple blood filled cysts. The mass turned out to be Scar Tissue, to bad the pain remained. I had to have a 3rd surgery about 6 weeks later for Bowel Obstructions afterwards which they shut down for almost 2 weeks. It was a very rough time in my life. I still have Chronic pelvic and abdominal pain which is thought to be from a massive amount of Adhesions During the last surgery they found my Bowels were malrotated and everything plastered together. I do go to a Pain Clinic which has helped But I do still hold out hope someday to be PAINFREE!! I've read some of your post over the last few days and know you will be seeing a Pain Doc also. Good Luck....please let me know how it goes
