Wear a girdle?

I want something for my belly NOW. Don't want to wait ten days to order something by post My belly is disgusting
What about a girdle? Would that be ok, or too constricting? I mean a granny panty girdle, or bodyshaper type, I don't know!

All I know is that the shops are open and I could be wearing one by this afternoon, if only I knew what to get!

Re: Wear a girdle?

I didn't like anything on my incision for the first few days. After that I wore cotton "granny" panties for a couple of weeks. Then I used light support undies when I went out. Anything heavier hurt for a couple of months. You might want to try something with very light support to begin with. Then go from there, depending on how your tummy reacts.

Best wishes.

Re: Wear a girdle?

Hello Dragona!!!!! I also had a SAH....At 12 days out...I didn't want anything touching my tummy. I would have to call and ask the doc. I would be afraid to risk it....that incision is too new and you don't want to take any kind of risk in hurting it...pulling up a tight panty could do that. The swelling will go down....I know it's frustrating..but you have got to give yourself time. BTW...I'm just dying to know...have you dropped your daisies? Take care......................!!!!

Re: Wear a girdle?

Thanks for that info - I don't know why I want to squish it down anyway, I'm not going anywhere for a good while!

Lady63 - dropping as if my life depends on it! It's like the comedy lounge here - everytime I do, mass hysteria, and it is obvious by the look on my face when I am trying to do a *quiet one* which apparently is even funnier!!

Re: Wear a girdle?

Hello ladies...when I went out to Walmart yesterday I pidked up some firm control panties. They fit like a girdle would fit. They are really tight but bareable. They also made me sweat around my inciision, not sure if that is good or not. I wasnt sure of what size to get. I got large because thats the size I wear. Should I have gotten a larger size? should it fit snug? And why is it okay to push your stomach in so soon but are told your insides need time to heal? Pushing everything together seems like that would cause more problems. Its very confusing to me. I need some help with this before I injure myself during my fifth week...thanks

It's not a good idea to be sweating around your incision, especially if it's not fully healed; and I think your girdle may be too tight. At this point you want gentle support, such as the support you would get iwith a light control panty.

When in doubt, ask your doctor.

Re: Wear a girdle?

I have been wearing a Spanx when I go for my walks. It's sort of a lightweight girdle type of thing that I have worn for years before under clothing to smooth things out. It's not too tight and the support feels good. I have ordered the belly band and abdominal support but they haven't arrived yet. Good luck
