Evamist?

I just had a LAVH, BSO on 5/12 and was doing great until a couple days ago...mild heat but nothing i couldn't deal with. I am so bluesy that I am literally crying at the drop of a hat or at nothing at all. I am hoping that evamist takes the blues away. I didn't read anything about depression just hot flashes in the leaflet that came with it.

Has anyone had success with evamist and depression?

Re: Anyone using Evamist

Well, I'm not crying over game shows when the contestant doesn't win, so I guess that's an improvement. I actually didn't notice the change, but now that you've brought that to my attention, I think it did help with the weepiness--if that's a word. Mind you, it is gradual--this is my 4th week on Evamist.

Re: Anyone using Evamist

Now that sounds familiar! I just started using it yesterday, but this information is encouraging. I appreciate your reply.

Re: Evamist?

I used evamist alittle while back and it seemed to do well. I did 2 sprays at night and 1 in the mornig. My doctor said I could do it that way, but the problem for me was i thoght I was using too much. So I went bavk to my premarin. No complaints with the evamist, I was just finished with my bottle too soon. Good luck though. Alot of people like it.

Re: Evamist?

Ok, I was upped to 2 sprays a week ago because I was still having hot flashes but my mood was very good. I started getting the old edgy feelings back slowly a couple of days ago but they are in full force today just like I felt prior to surgery for the last year My dr. would prefer that I switch to 1mg of divigel instead of going up to 3 sprays. At the time I spoke to him it was due to hot flashes and not mood. Anybody have any thoughts about it? 3 sprays of Evamist or 1 mg of divigel? My hot flashes are still happening on 2 sprays but not quite as bad. Help!!!

Re: Evamist?

You are still very early post op. Your levels could be fluctuating, causing hot flashes. These things can take time and much patience. I would give it some more time. For many of us, hormone balance does not happen overnight and the first months post op may not happen at all. IMHO you need to give it more time.

Re: Evamist?

Hello,

Well I just had my ovaries pulled out on 6/3/2009 so I am really a newbie, however, I started on evamist and I am doing 2 sprays and also taking OTC Estroven and it has been helping to get rid of the little bit more of hotflashes and such! I didnt want to go to 3 sprays and my doctor said 2 would be fine for now since I am taking the estroven. Also because Estroven is all natural it does not counteract the estrogen!

But do talk to your doctor and make sure! I know what works for one person doesnt always work for the other! I hope this helps!

Re: Evamist?

Thanks...I have heard of estroven but in my case I have to be careful with otc stuff because I have Epilepsy and take seizure meds. Everything prescribed and otc has to be approved by my neurologist so I try to limit unless absolutely necessary. I had an estradiol level done on Friday and will hopefully hear today what it is and will go from there. Thanks for your input.

Re: Evamist?

Have been using Evamist for almost a year and LOVE it. 3 sprays and no hot flashes, no weepiness and no mood swings. Had tried an estorgen patch but had a terrible rash. After a subsequent unrelated surgery, found out that I've developed an allergy to adhesive. Prefer to use a spray rather than a pill that my liver has to deal with.

Re: Evamist?

I have been using Evamist for last 6 weeks. I also had reaction from the patch after using for a year. I am using 2 sprays am and 1 when I get home from work . I am finally sleeping, and the hot flashes I was having during the day are not as frequent. Dr really didn't want me to go to 3 sprays but I had to find out for myself if it helped. (he has NEVER had a hot flash)
