help, did I do something, have a new raised red bump

I was exactly one week po and got up to a standing position and felt sharp direct pain in low left side of abdomen. about 1 1/2 inches from my incision (which is from belly button down). Hurt like crazy and there wasn't enought pain meds to help that night, the next day I saw a raised brigt red lump at the spot of the previous days sharp pain. What could this be???? I am scared!

Re: help, did I do something, have a new raised red bump

Hello, I'm not too sure, it might be part of the sutures inside making a weird pull or something. Go take your temp and keep taking it off and on to make sure you don't run a fever (of course if you have tylenol or motrin in any of your meds they would mask a fever slightly). I would definately call the doc or a Rn line if you have one available to you. Watch it. It could even be something like a rub mark from steri strips (if you have them) they can pull and really hurt sometimes. Take a pic with your phone and call the Rns at the hospital you were at, they may be able to help, even though "it isn't medical advice". I had a nurse help me after a really crummy surgery once bcuz I lived hours away and she was crazy nice to me. How nice to make such a difference that she would be remembered all of these years later. Good luck! Let us know. Hang in there it will get better.

That was five days ago. Are you still in pain and is the red lump still there? If you haven't already spoken about this with your doctor I'd suggest calling first thing in the morning. He might want to see you to make sure there's nothing going on that shouldn't be.

I hope you feel better soon. Keep us posted.
