Re: staples ...torn belly
I understand , my incision did the same thing.. I would try to get your doctor to see it.. I went for two days talking to the nurses at the doctors office and when I finally talked to the doctor, she said that they should have told me to come in. I think that they really need to check it.. Good Luck

Re: staples ...torn belly
yes it will be a good idea. part of my incision was healed on the outside, but the inside was not.. Now you may not have the same thing.. but just to be sure.. this is a very tricky recovery I think. I thought I was doing great and then had a setback.. I hope that when the doctor looks at yours it is just fine.. Good Luck

Re: staples ...torn belly
Hi, I live in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear! Sorry to hear your scar has separated. I had TAH including ovaries out on 26.05.09 and my staples came out last Tuesday.I was in horrible pain from the Wednesday and I missed the Take That concert (I could hear them from my garden so don't know if that was worse than pain!) but by Sunday morn I was in excruciating pain, thinking a coughing attack had pulled stiches inside. After showering, loads of green pus(maybe half pint) came pouring out where 1 staple had been but after a trip to the gyny ward, dressed with bandage and given antibiotics x 2, this is now healing. My scar did open about the size of 5p piece but today it has closed nearly although it is very painful an a small amount of pus is still comming out. The antibiotics are working and so far the care I have received has been brill, and I have ventured out to buy a card today. Now I am very sore and tired but feel good to have managed to put clothes on. I have a scar from belly button downwards and I don't know how big my utterus/fibroid was because it was heavier than the scales could weigh.(In excess of 7lbs). Bio oil is apparently fab for mending scars but only when clearance from DR has been given. I am sure you will get to wear a bikini again! Good luck!

Re: staples ...torn belly
Hi, I'm in York so not that far from you, I had a problem with a flap, about 1.25 inches, which had nothing to attach to.
My NHS practice nurse removed my staples on day 4 and assured me it was OK, but I was really concerned as I could see the underside of it - looked red with little circles.
I actually booked an appointment with my Consultant at the private hospital where I had my surgery.
I saw her at 7 days and she agreed with everything the nurse told me, basically it sometimes happens, there was nothing she could do and it would heal OK, but to watch out for any redness which may indicate infection. She advised me - no baths, just short showers + air drying.
At 14 days it sealed and actually is suprizing flat.
I'm 48 and already had a C-section scar which is now combined with the new one but at 4 months post op, I'm delighted, it looks great
Hope yours heals well.

Re: staples ...torn belly
HI februarydream
I am delighted you have healed. It is scary when things split and I think you can't believe they will right themselves as it looks horrible. I hope when the nurse takes and replaces my dressing tomorrow the hole has sealed up 100% but am happy to give it time. I am witness at best friends wedding Thursday this week! The last thing I need is to start oozing at the reg. office!
