sexual desire

Ok, Im a pretty forward woman, so please dont read on if you are more reserved. I am 9 days post op from radical hysterectomy with lymph removal, altho I still have my overies. I know I cant have sex (ugh).... but my question is.... can I use my "toy" to satisfy my intense urge?... if I dont penetrate. Thats right ladies, I just want to know if I can have an orgasm with manual clitoral stimulation thats battery powered, not by my partner. And..... why is my urge so intense? Maybe Im a sexaholic, but **** it.... Im ***** !

Re: sexual desire

Hi, SweetDahlia! to HysterSisters!

We're glad to have you join us and look forward to sharing with you as you heal from your recent surgery. There's a wealth of information on this site to help you throughout recovery and of course shared experiences from those who are recovery and from those who have long since recovered.

While it's okay to share experiences (so long as they are in keeping with the PG rating of this site) it's important that you call your doctor to ask exactly what activities, sexual or otherwise, that are and are not allowed. Some doctors, like mine for example, say nothing in the vagina/complete pelvic rest. You really do need to call your doctor to ask if external stimulation at this point is safe for you, and then follow your doctor's orders regardless of what others have done, with or without clearance from their doctors.

A lot of women do experience a surge in libido in the early weeks of recovery. Sometimes that continues after the doctor gives clearance to resume sexual relations...but not always. Time will tell what will be the case for you.

Here are some good resources to read on the subject while you wait to hear back from your doctor:

Sex - Do I Really Have to Wait Six Weeks?

Sex - Post-Op Libido and Sexual Activities

Post-Op Sex Checkpoint

I wish you the best for an uneventful recovery!

Re: sexual desire

A lot of us have that increase in appetite. Maybe it has a lot to do with the increase in blood flow to a healing area.

My doc. gave me the okay for outercourse around that time period. But please give a quick call to the nurse, at least, and make sure. We are all different with different issues. I have sort of a cramping that happens vaginally from orgasm, so I even took it easy with that.
