Between breast tenderness and no libido should I take HRT?(Endo)

I am about 8 months post surgery and due to the endo the doc suggested that I not take HRT for at least 3 months. My dh has been very patient but I think his patience is wearing thin. I have no libido and my breasts are so tender that I want to smack him everytime he comes near me. In addition, the brain fog is a real issue. I had bought one of the packs (don't remember the name) of an otc solution that came with 2 bottles (one for morning and one for night). I became so moody I couldn't stand myself much less anyone else. I threw them in the trash.

My dsis had a hyst at age 25 and came out of surgery on HRT. She swears by estrotest .625.

I don't want to lose my marriage but not sure I want to take another pill every day and suffer through getting regulated.

Thanks for listening!

Re: Between breast tenderness and no libido should I take HRT?(Endo)

Alicia,
Breast tenderness is usually from too much estrogen. Than again, we are all different. Guess that's why we call it a jungle

I didn't have Endo, but have read that many times the doctor will also prescribe progesterone to help offset the effects of estrogen on Endo.

You do have many options besides a pill every day. There are patches, gels, sprays and sublinguals.

You can read more about hormones and your options for hrt in the articles at www.hormonejungle.com Perhaps you can print out the ones that interest you the most and bring them in to discuss with your doctor.

Good luck!

I would suggest finding a doctor who is knowledgeable regarding endometriosis and hormones. While estrogen is known to fuel the growth of endo, there can be a lot of negatives associated with no estrogen replacement! Hence, I have my ovaries even with stage IV! It was determined the for me, my own hormones were better than either no hormones or years of HRT.

You are going to have to weigh the pros and cons of your current symptoms vs. endometriosis recurrence. The more skilled your surgeon, the better your chances could be that you won't have endo recurrence.

As ((Kim)) mentioned, progesterone could be given along with any estrogen to help any endo at bay. You will also want to try to use the lowest dose of estrogen replacement that will eliminate your symptoms.

There are options so find a knowledgeable doctor and see what you can find that will work for you!
