Climara patch

I just switched to the .075 Climara patch. I've only had it on for two days and having trouble with it sticking. Any suggestions. I know I've read about it in older posts but thought I see what everyone is doing these days. Thanks for any input.

Re: Climara patch

Hi Bobbie,
I used the Climara for a few months post op from my tah/bso. The first month or so it seemed to stick well, than the problems started. I could not keep it stuck, it was bubbling and wrinkling. I was blowing thru alot of patches. Luckily my doc had given me some samples.

I have read that some say to heat the area for about 10 seconds with the blow dryer on low that helps it to stay stuck. Also make sure the area is clean and dry, no powder or oils of any type. There is also a clear plastic cover called tegaderm that some use to place over the patch.

If those tips don't work, perhaps you could ask your doctor about the Vivelle Dot. I haven't seen many reports of the sticking issue with the dot.

Re: Climara patch

Thanks for the response Kim. I was on the Vivelle Dot .075 but have had trouble with my heart pounding on it and horrible headaches. Things seem to be getting better on the Climara just having trouble with this first one sticking. Hope it doesn't happen all the time.

Re: Climara patch

I am actually on the vivelle dot patch....have been for almost 6 weeks now. So far I have had no problems with it sticking. The only time I did have a problem is the first time I put on my bathing suit and got in the pool. My patch was right at the top of my bathing suit bottom and got rubbed alot and came off when I took my bathing suit off. So I started sticking it further down my cheek!! lol Knock on wood I have had no other problems.

Re: Climara patch

I use Climara and haven't had a lot of trouble with it not sticking. I clean my upper back side with alcohol first, let it dry and then apply the patch and be sure to use the palm of you hand over the patch for 10-20 seconds to help warm it up and get the adhesive to work. Make sure to press along the edges with you fingers as well. For me the patch sticks best higher up on my rear - almost lower back but make sure it doesn't get rubbed by panties or clothing. It tends to wrinkle more the lower I place it.

I started out on Vivelle but switched to Climara and I do better with the Climara.

Good luck!

Re: Climara patch

I have used both Climara and Vivelle. Vivelle seemed to stick better, but I thought that was b/c it was so much smaller. I have gone to a much lower dosage over the years since my surgery, and the smaller the patch, the better it seems to adhere. I have used rubbing alcohol to dry the skin before applying the patch, and that helps too.
