I think I'm ready (babies mentioned)

OK, I think I have everything:

Clothes packed
Toiletries Packed
Fluffy socks ready
Massage done
Pedicure/manicure done
Hair cut/colored
Laundry done
Sheets changed
Shopping done
House cleaned
Food cooked
Brought the Twilight series to read.
Downloaded movies
Bills paid

My dogs birthday party ready to go. She is going to be 4 (we are going to celebrate a day early at doggy daycare, her birthday is on the same day as surgery)

Pre-op was done today. I am actually going to have the surgery in the same ward that they deliver babies (OMG, that has to be terrible for some people). The massive about of people visiting the new Mom's was unbelievable, so, I really hope to be out of there fast.

What did I forget?

Re: I think I'm ready (babies mentioned)

Good luck to you both! (I didn't bring anything to read when I had mine, I couldn't concentrate on anything but getting some rest) The only thing I remember reading in the "castle" were the notes on the castle walls reminding patients to "Speak up if we had any problems". Boy were they sick of me and my questions! I bet I made them want to tear those signs down. LOL! Keep us posted on your experiences. We are all here to help!

Good thoughts to all!

Re: I think I'm ready (babies mentioned)

Sounds like you have everything covered. Don't forget the slippers for your strolls through the hospital corridors and the lip balm. I am not a huge lip balm user but I was begging for it after surgery.

I love that you are having a birthday party for your dog. My dogs birthday is next week and I am hoping to be able to take him on a little more of a decent walk than what I have been able to do. That is by far his favorite activity.

Best of luck to you. See you on the other side!

Don't forget your flip flops for the trip home!!!! It is so much nicer than having to worry about bending down and tieing your shoes or fastening them. With flip flops you can just slip them on and you are ready to go!!!

Best of luck to you!!!

Re: I think I'm ready (babies mentioned)

Don't forget to prep your recovery area at home as that will be equally important. Make sure that you have everything you need when you get home. I prepared by bedroom and the area around my huge comfy chair in my living room.

The lip balm is a great idea too. That was one of the first things (after ice) that I wanted when I was at the castle.

Good luck to you and here's wishing you a speedy recovery.

Re: I think I'm ready (babies mentioned)

You've done a great job of getting ready to go.
I'm with Georgia - Get ready to come home for a long peaceful recovery if you have time now. I'm using
* A couple of different places to sit and lie
* Heat packs and hot water bottles
* Some interesting constructive things to do
* Something to deal with all the wind from the antibiotics they will give you post-op.

Good luck

Re: I think I'm ready (babies mentioned)

Good luck it will be 1 week post op for me tomorrow and I still haven't read the things that I took with me to read. I just wanted to rest and lay still so that I would not feel any pain.

Good luck to you and can't wait to hear how things went for you
