Do I take these forever?

I had a tvh for cervical cancer and kept my ovaries. Had the hot flashes and feelings that my body was taken over by some being from outer space. I had no control and was not the person that I was before surgery. A very wise woman suggested I take black cohosh and red clover since my doctor was of no help and insisted that there was no reason why my ovaries were not working. I have been doing great with these herbs, but since I have been on them for a yr now, I thought it might be good to see if I really still need them. Labor day weekend, I stopped taking them. My hell began all over again! Not so much with major hot flashes, but the demon in me came out and I was having arguments with anyone and everything that crossed my path! (yup, even the showerhead!) I was off of the herbs for about 4 days and have been back on them for 2 days. I feel depressed and mad at the world, and then will burst out in tears for no apparent reason. I will admit that things are a bit rough in my household now, but nothing so major that I would be crying over!!
Okay, here is my question. Figuring that I will soon feel more like myself in a few days, I want to know if I will need to be taking these herbs for the rest of my life? And if I don't, then how will I know that I don't need them anymore?
Thanks ladies! Any help you can give me would be appreciated!

Do I take these forever?

Love the showerhead story You may want to consider finding a new doctor and finding out if those ovaries of yours are functioning or not.

It could also be that your system is used to the herbs so when you stop it goes into shock. If you and your family can stand you you may want to try and give it a bit more time and see if things level out.

However, I feel that if you feel good on the herbs I wouldn't mess with it. A few times I've wondered if all the supplements I was taking were really working so I quit taking them. And Oh My I really felt it and immediately started taking them again.

My first instinct really is for you to find out if your ovaries are functioning or not. While the herbs can help with the menopausal symptoms they do not protect your heart and bones like estrogen does.

Good luck my friend! It's nice to have you come visit us in the jungle
