Got my surgery date (kids mentioned)

I got the call today about my surgery date. It is scheduled for July 24th, 2009. I am having an abdominal hysterectomy with the removal of my cervix but leaving the ovaries because I am only 33 years old. I really am glad to have found this site. It has helped so much and answered a lot of questions for me. I just wish I could become a more active member of the board but I have 4 kids to chase and we homeschool. So my me time is few and far between. I am worried about the recovery. My husband although a really good person just isn't much into helping. Of course it doesn't help that I have always played superwoman after all three of my c-sections. So much that in a weeks time I was back to my old self again but I always push myself too much. We have had a talk and since he has been like that he wants to genuinely make up for it this time and treat me like a queen. Is there any information on the sight here that maybe geered for my husband to read and explain what the recovery is like. I am so glad to be getting this over soon. I am tired of hurting and my belly being swollen.

Re: Got my surgery date (kids mentioned)

sometimes its hard to navigate around this site but it is soooo helpful!!!! you might want to click on pre op and different checkpoints. there is actually one page just for hubbies, don't remember where though! maybe on the home page..... you will find it or someone will reply with the exact place! make sure he does treat you like a queen!!! you will need a lot of help... i had my RALH on 6/19 and its a slow recovery!!! (especially with having children ) GOOD LUCK.....

Hi, this is not a C-section, you can read the post C-section VS TAH on this site. I printed the article "Too much too soon after Hysterectomy" and had my husband read it. It talks about the risks of overdoing it in very clear language. Good luck to you.
