Phantom Uterus Pain?

I am about 13 weeks post op from my abdominal Hysto. This morning I woke up in the same pain I had before I had my Surgery. I was doubled over holding my tummy, just hoping it would stop. I say it was the same pain, but it was also a bit different. Kind of like not real, but yet very real. I know it doesn't make any sense, but thats what it was! So now i'm wondering if its like when you loose an arm or leg, and you have that phantom pain as if the appendage is still there. Its the craziest thing ever!

Or, is there another issue going on that i need to check into? I'm gonna wait and see if it happens again. If it happens a few more times, I'm gonna get it checked out.

Has anyone else had something similar happen?

Re: Phantom Uterus Pain?

Hi (((Valeri)))

Yes, I did have something similar happen. I have one ovary left, so I continued to keep track of my cycle even after surgery. On the days that I would have been menstruating, I would get those sensations, and my cuff would feel more sensitive. I have read a few posts from women who had similar experiences even with both ovaries removed, so I do think that our bodies are adjusting to the uterus not being there. Those sensations did lessen as each month passed. Of course, if you are doubled over in pain, this could be more concerning. Please call your doctor if this new pain continues. All the best to you!

Re: Phantom Uterus Pain?

At 13 weeks post op i had intense lower abdominal pain that lasted about a week. I end going to the Dr. she said i was prabably on my period. Since then it hasn't been as intense, but i still get a uterine crampy type feeling every couple weeks. My cervix also seems to hurt during the time i may be on my period. The price we pay for keeping our ovaries!!!!
