Increased anxiety - is it low estrogen?

Have experienced increased anxiety/edginess lately, notice some slight OCD tendencies too. Wonder if this is due to too high or too low estrogen level or perhaps imbalance between progesterone and estrogen.

Lately have increased estrogen level, but not sure if it's high enough, levels were quite low.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Increased anxiety - is it low estrogen?

Hi

If my estrogen is too low, I tend to be anxious about every little thing. However, progesterone is known as the "calming hormone" and it may be that a little progesterone would help you.

Have you asked your Dr about this? What does he say?

Re: Increased anxiety - is it low estrogen?

Haven't asked dr yet. Will try to contact her next week.

I already use prometrium. Perhaps I should increase temporarily. Didn't want to change ratio until I knew which was "off".

Thanks.

Re: Increased anxiety - is it low estrogen?

I wouldn't change anything without asking her first. It may be that your estrogen is a little low, and increasing your prometrium could make that issue worse. I would wait and see what she says, especially since your appointment is so soon.

Since it takes up to 6 weeks to get the full affect of any change, "temporary" changes usually just confuse the issue. At least that has been my experience.

Let us know what your Dr says.
