Re: Book Ideas...I am bored

I read Jan Karon's Mitford series when I was recovering last year and loved them. There are 7 or 8 books in all. "The Other Bolyn Girl" was really good if you enjoy that era! I just finished the first "Twilight" book and am now reading a book called "What Jesus Meant."

Sherryl Woods, Chesapeake Shores Series (Inn at Eagle Point, Flowers on Main, and Harbor Lights) Lighthearted Family series, like Nora Roberts if you like her.
Jennifer Cruisie has a wicked sense of humor and revenge.
If you're a quilter, Jennifer Chiaverini has a series of 9 books that starts with the Quilter's Apprentice.
If you're only up to reading a chapter at a time, the early Maeve Binchy books, Lilac Bus and the Return Trip concentrates each chapter on one character and ties them all together in the final chapter.
I know NPR radio posted a list of best beach reads today, too, so somewhere on their site, is that list.

I just started "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" by Stieg Larsson. The dust jacket says it is a murder mystery (I love murder mysteries!!), family saga, love story and financial intrigue.

The last American book I read was The Help by Kathryn Stockett. Loved it. Could not put it away!
I also love the books by Paul Auster, but they are 'different' and not always easy readers.
My alltime favourite is Fountainhead by Ayn Rand.

And thank you all ladies for new titles; I also read an awful lot of books, and our library overhere has a wonderful English section.

If you like funny mysteries, try the Stephanie Plum series ( One for the Money etc... ) by Janet Evanovich. I also enjoy Alexander McCall Smith - all of his books are good No. 1 Ladies detective Agency and others ). I like John Mortimer's "Rumpole" series too.

Debbie Macomber: The Cedar cove series has 8 books that I read & now my whole family is passing them around. We are waiting for bok 9 to come out in a few months. She also has The Knitting Series with 4 books. You can order them from Amazon really cheap. Those are the ones that helped me get through!

Re: Book Ideas...I am bored

I read Dear John by Nicholas Sparks and it was a good. I am now reading The Lovely Bones which is also good. I am one of those who would rather read the book than see the movie because it seems the books are always better. Happy reading!
