Anti nausea meds and sleepng

What happens when sleeping and anti nausea meds are scheduled to be taken? Should an alarm be set to take? Sounds like a silly question but concerned about timing. Ty Trish

Re: Anti nausea meds and sleepng

you need all the sleep you can get. most of the meds last 6-8 hours anyway. I would not recommend setting an alarm. Just wait till you wake up naturally. (of course, unless your Dr. recommends otherwise)

Re: Anti nausea meds and sleepng

I kept the meds next to my bed with a glass of water. If I happened to wake up, I'd take the meds. If I didn't wake up, I took the pill as soon as I woke up in the morning.

Re: Anti nausea meds and sleepng

Since the hysterectomy, I don't sleep straight through, and wake up and go back to sleep often, so was curious if a med missed, if the nausea hits or not. I'm probably stressing about nothing.

Thank you all for your comments.

I did the same as Denton (most likely following her suggestion) As long as it was within an hour prior of my scheduled "redose" I'd take it. If i didn't wake during the night I would take it first thing in the morning.

Re: Anti nausea meds and sleepng

Thanks for the replies, but now wondering how many days did everyone take anti-nausea meds after treatment?

Re: Anti nausea meds and sleepng

I had treatment on Wed and took them through Sat morning. The further into treatment I go the longer I needed them though. Didn't go passed Monday morning's 1st dose though.

Re: Anti nausea meds and sleepng

I had my chemo on Thursdays. They gave me an infusion of Aloxi (a long-term anti nausea med) prior to chemo. It was good for five days, so I started taking my compazene on Tuesday & took it for about 3 days. I never really had much nausea though. Just had difficulty eating for about 5 days after each chemo once the clammy mouth issue set in.

Good luck to you.

Re: Anti nausea meds and sleepng

My Zofran was every 8 hrs, so I could make it thru the night. I didn't take it the day of chemo, so I would take it in the Am when I got up then late afternoon then before bed.

When I went on Aloxi and Emend, I got Aloxi and Emend on day 1 then Emend only (1x per day) on day 2 and 3. Never took anti nausea meds beyond 2 days after--never felt it was needed.
