some vaginal bleeding 4 years post-op

This is my first post on this site and I'm hoping to find some answers. I had a radical hysterectomy (uterus and ovaries) 4 years ago. In the last 2 years I have experienced excessive vaginal discharge to which my doctor has shown no concern. Just recently I have started having pink or blood tinged discharge from time to time. Is anyone else experiencing the same thing?

I have not had this past my first year post op, and then it was unhealed vaginal cuff. Women sometimes get infections or other irregularities. You might find another doctor if your present doctor is still unconcerned.

Re: some vaginal bleeding 4 years post-op

Hi User41,

I just had my surgery 3 short weeks ago -- however, if your doctor is not giving you the attention you deserve, then I agree w/SuzyQ in the fact that perhaps you should find a specialist (OBGYN/Surgeon) who you could take up your concerns with. Just take your health records and move on. I would be concerned if I was bleeding 4yrs later, and I would want someone to give it the utmost attention.

Good luck -- pls keep us posted!

Re: some vaginal bleeding 4 years post-op

It seems to me that a lot of discharge is something to be concerned about, definitely if it is pink or blood-tinged. I had discharge and my doctor was unconcerned, yet it did turn out to be cancer. Uterine, that is, and you've already had a hyst, but I would insist on being seen and tested regardless. Just my opinion, I'm not a healthcare professional, but as others have said, you might want to find a different doctor. Hope you get answers/help soon, let us know.

A new DR is in order for you. Good luck. No one should have a Dr. who is unconcerned with repeated trouble, whatever it is.
