Skin feels raw, looks normal though

I had a TAH/BSO & bowel resection on July 27. For about the last week I have been having pain on the left side of my abdomen. It is not near my incision, but starts at where the bottom of the incision is and extends out to the left toward my hip.

It is a burning sort of pain and I can hardly touch it. It feels as though the skin is really raw, but it looks normal. It hurts to even have clothes on. When I am laying down and not touching it it seems not too bad, but am having trouble walking normally because of the pain.

Has anyone else experienced this before? My outer left thigh is numb as well, but not painful. Any thoughts?

Re: Skin feels raw, looks normal though

I have this too, but mine is on the right side near the top of my incision and works its way down along the cut. Also, if I walk for any length of time, like three blocks, my right leg and foot seem to go numb. I think it may be nerve pain from all the cutting and sewing they did during the surgery, or maybe something got pinched! Definitely, something to mention to the doctor.

I'm sorry you're experiencing these things but they are very common and I hope others will be along soon to share.

In the meantime, if you try a Google Search of HysterSisters (towards the top right of every page) you'll find hundreds of similar stories to read through. Have you discovered our <link> Post-Op Page yet? It's packed with information, including two articles on these very subjects.

Sending all good wishes as you continue to heal!
