Full blown PRINCESS!!!!!!

Hello Everybody,

Well my surgery was Aug 11th. I had TAH with both ovaries taken and a butt load of endo taken out. Heres my story. ( remember I'm still really durged up lol)The morning of Aug 11th I got up took my shower brushed my teeth kind of did my hair. My DH got the car packed I said good bye to my puppies Addie and Forest and we took off. We got to the hospital 20 min early. They called me back @ 6:10. They had me go to the bathroom and change into a gown. They came in and put the air pump booties on me and started my IV, they had a very had time finding a vein. I had done my bowel prep the night before and did not drink a lot after i was done big no no!!!!!!!!!!! Be sure to drink, drink and drink some more until midnight!!!!!!!!! They got my IV started They had my family come back and we had a small party. My Dr. came by told me what he was going to do and that everything would be fine ( I thougt to myself it better be or my mother will hurt you!). The anesthesiologist came in next, he said he would be putting me under and I said that was good that I really didn't want to be awake. He looked at me as if I was crazy, and maybe I am???? He put this little patch behind my ear for nausa and we took of we got half way down the hall and the next thing I was in my room with everyone standing around me. All I can say is Holy @%*#. but with in a few min. they gave me a shot of demerol, I can't take morphine which totally sucks!!!!! With in a day my bowels shut down. Not a good thing. I have never had anything hurt that much in my life. I couldn"t pass gas, It just would build up and build up until friday they had me drink some kind of bowel prep to get them going. It first mad me sick and gave me dry heaves but finely my butt exploded and we all sang to the heavens above. I went home the next day. Today is my 2nd day home, I have never been so happy to be home in my life. I'm taking oxycodone and resting. Thanks for all the prayers and info and speical thanks to my big sishyster!!!!!!!!!!! It's great to be on the other side Now I just have to decide HRT or no HRT?????????? I hope this makes sence.

Re: Full blown PRINCESS!!!!!!

Kimberly - it makes perfect sense! Glad you're doing so well. Sorry about the bowel shutdown - the gas after the abdominal surgery has been horrendous. Can't imagine not getting it out! You must have felt like you would explode. Remember the Rx painkillers tend to constipate you, so keep drinking lots and lots of fluid (not soda, makes gas worse) and eat prunes if you have trouble going! Mint tea helps with the gas too. Hope all continues to go well for you.

Re: Full blown PRINCESS!!!!!!

I piggybacked Motrin and Tylenol which helped me with my pain. I was too afraid to try anything stronger for fear of constipation, which I'm prone to even before the surgery. I read on one of the posts that some of the women were taking half of a pain pill instead of a whole one. Not sure if you want to try that.

Congrats on a successful surgery and becoming a princess!
