Pre-Op Appointments Behind Me

I had my doctor's pre-op appointment on Monday and my hospital pre-op appointment Today..... I am so happy to have those behind me.....Now the waiting game.

The doctor put me on some meds to help with Hot Flashes I am having already before the surgery so I am very happy to have those stop for now.

Surgery is 2 weeks from today (9/1/09)...so no starts the lets get everything done.....

Any suggestions on keeping myself from going crazy for the next two weeks?

Whohooo...one more roadblock down, you are almost there!

I've been trying to keep myself busy getting everything in order before the surgery...housecleaning, food, clothing, etc. I check in here when I get to anxious because we ladies know how to help each other out.

Re: Pre-Op Appointments Behind Me

My surgery date is 8/31 so I am right there with you on the countdown. I have been cleaning a room each day, making meals to freeze (have 11 in our deep freeze now) so I won't have to cook once the help stops, and I am actually washing all our packed away Fall clothes so I don't have worry about lifting anything. Those really are the only things keeping me sane right now.

Good luck!!

Re: Pre-Op Appointments Behind Me

My surgery is on Monday, and last week I ordered the "Prepare for Surgery, Heal Faster" book and cd. I've been listening to the relaxation cd (about 20 minutes) twice a day since. I had my pre-op yesterday and my blood pressure was the lowest it's ever been at the doctor's office!

In general, I've noticed I'm much calmer than I expected to be. So, that's my advice to help with the waiting - get the cd (the book is helpful too)!

good luck!

Re: Pre-Op Appointments Behind Me

Angelbunny,

I used the hystersisters checklist of things to have where you will be resting the most. I had a nightstand by the bed. My DH and I put all kinds of good stuff in there. The gas-x a few books, some baby wipes(just in case I felt like freshening up but not shower). Since it was fourth of July weekend when I was initially recovering we put some red, white and blue candles and a banner my children wanted to hang in the room so I would still be able to celebrate.
It was tough not to over do and try to get Everything done. Make a checklist of things that need to be done. Then you make a list of things that should be done but will wait for you to recover. Waiting is the toughest part of this. Best wishes to you Hang in there and remember the super woman cape goes away while you heal.
