Down Home Stretch and freaking out

I go in for my LAVH and TVT on Wednesday. I am sitting here at work with basically NOTHING to do since my replacement was a VERY FAST learner and so she's in the driver's seat doing everything and I'm sitting at the back desk perusing Hyster Sisters. I could take tomorrow off but I'm not sure. What should I do? Plus, I'm freaking out with being nervous about this surgery. What if something goes wrong? I've never been put under for this long. I am anxious to get this over with but why won't the butterflies go away!!!!!!!!! Maybe I should start the silly medicine early so I'll calm down. LOL

Re: Down Home Stretch and freaking out

Hi acveach, easier said than done, but don't panic. First off, I would definitely take the day before surgery off. I did and was glad I did. I was worried I'd make tons of mistakes at work, and/or not even get anything done, and I was so preoccupied that day, I wouldn't have been of any use to anyone. Take the day to clear your mind and take care of any last minute details.

You'll see a million times on this site that the worst part is the waiting and it's SO true. I was so worried about all the "what-ifs" and so scared. Surgery (I had a TVH) turned out to be the best thing I've ever done, and recovery has been easier than I had worried it would be. Remind yourself how many women have gone through this and try your best not to worry. It'll be over soon and you won't believe the relief you'll feel!! Hugs to you!

I agree with web-chick. I would take the day before surgery off work.
They say waiting is the worst part, so you are almost over that..
Best wishes to you for your surgery and a speedy recovery.
Hugs,
Suzanne

Re: Down Home Stretch and freaking out

My advice: take a nice long bath and have a glass of wine! Baths will be forbidden for (approx 6 weeks) a while after surgery so enjoy one now. You can't drink any alcohol while on narcotic pain killers. I also did yoga. I should have gone for a full body massage. After the surgery your back will probably be sore just from having to be so sedentary. A massage would have been a great way to calm the jitters. Take care!

Re: Down Home Stretch and freaking out

Hi acveach!

My surgery is tomorrow and I wish I had taken today off. Luckily I work at home but I'm trying to choke done the bowel prep and concentrate on what I am typing. I will probably be up late tonight while trying to get everything caught up!

Take the day and pamper yourself!
