Pre-Op Appointment

Ok, sisters,
I have a dumb question.
My TAH is on tues 29th.
Am i supposed to have a pre-op appointment? And who with?
After my primary doc, dismissed my concerns as being 'signs of depression', i went to a gyno for advice. That day of the appointment with the gyno, i had bloods taken, medical history etc. Then 2days later i was having ultrasounds to ascertain why i was having bad periods. They found fibriods, and i had my TAH scheduled shortly after.

The hospital did call me at home today, but i was at work. So i will call them tomorrow. (the confirmation note from the gyno office said the hospital would call a few days before).
Am i just getting all panic-ky? Or am i missing something?

Re: Pre-Op Appointment

That isn't a dumb question at all! There's no such thing.

I wouldn't panic. Even though it seems that most of us have a pre-op appointment so we can have any blood work, tests, etc done and also ask questions, some assessments are done on the phone. Be sure to ask tomorrow when you speak to the person at the hospital. If you have questions for your doctor regarding the surgery, you might want to call his/her office and speak to the doctor or nurse.

Hang in there and let us know what you find out tomorrow!

Spoke with the hospital, they are going to do some blood work, but as I am fairly healthy, the hospital thinks im ok.
So the final countdown begins.......
Nervous to have surgery, but really looking forward to having no more probs!!!

Re: Pre-Op Appointment

I never had a pre-op. My TVH was scheduled, I did have to go to the hospital beforehand to give some blood so they could type me and make sure they had some on hand, but that was it. No bowel prep, nada!

You're almost there!!!!! Your wait is almost over!!!!
