Bowel Problems- 7 mths. post op

I am now 7 mths. post op and still have bowel problems. Trackgal suggested magnesium tablets a few months ago and they are great, but I still have problems. I take my magnesium as faithful as my hrt, but still I have some days of constipation which result in "hemmies", too. I feel like this will be a life long problem.
Anyone 7-12 mths. post op and found relief from bowel problems-constipation & hemmies? What did you do?
No other problems & no regrets about having a TAH- no pain, bleeding, and minimal mood swings. Next to salvation & my family, my hyst. is the greatest thing in my life!

I also ended up having troubles with this 4-5 months. Metamucil or Citracel and acidophilus supplements all help to regulate and heal the bowels and digestive system. Explain all of your symptoms to you doc and see what he or she says. Good Luck and keep us posted.

Bowel Problems- 7 mths. post op

I'm 5.5 months post. I have trouble off and on with my bowels. After my hyster, my Dr put me on stool softeners, Colace, and it has helped. I've tried the Metamucil, but just can't stand that stuff. I went off the Colace for a couple of weeks, and started having problems, so I've decided to stay on it for a few months longer.

I also believe that my bowels are effected by the Endo, but the Dr doesn't agree. It just seems strange that SOOOO many Endo-gals are told they have IBS!

As for the hemmies, I've dealt with those too. I use a rash care cream with Calendula (SP) in it that really helps.

bowel problems

Dear Sister, I am 8mo. post -op. I had the same problems you do. They have subsided. I think it just takes time for your body to heel. If you think about all of the things they move around when they do the surgery, it makes sense that the end result would be horrible bowel problems. I had two surgeries done, just a few months apart, ug!! What a time. Just take good care of yourself. It gets better. I agree, it's so nice to not have to buy fem. hygene products, isn't it.
