Swelly Belly and Old Stretch Marks

HI---I have not heard anyone address this particular issue yet, but it is my BIGGEST problem now at Day 19 and is driving me crazy!

I had huge babies 26 and 30 years ago and have had horrible stretch marks ever since then. I also weigh 252 lb and have a large overhang belly. My stretch marks BENEATH my navel have now looked like "orange peel" skin now because you can see the edema (swelling) in them...my belly is SO sore from this alone. It is really about all that is bothering me. There are both sharp pains and dull pains. I have tried ice packs every day, alternating with heating pads....I have put lotion on my belly, all to no avail.

I called my doctor's office twice and once the doctor himself said "you're just going to have to wait it out until the swelling subsides" and the other time I called the nurse told me the same thing and said that was all there was to it.

I have read before that anytime you have contiinual edema anywhere, you are sustaining tissue damage and that worries me! My swelly belly started on Day 6 and it is now Day 19 so I have had constant swelling of the stretch marks since then......the swelling IS somewhat better when I first wake up but gets worse as the day progresses. Any ideas or experience with this same problem? Any help is comforting......wishing speedy healing to all!

Re: Swelly Belly and Old Stretch Marks

Sorry to hear you are dealing with this.

Are you taking any anti inflammatory meds? Like motrin or naproxen? I have found that often times that seems to help. It might be worth asking your about.

I wish I had more to offer. Hopefully another sister will come along with more insight.
