Re: Who took my brain cells

I certainly don't have them. :-) I thought I had problems BEFORE surgery, but this is really bad.

I write down what I need to remember so that I don't forget. But sometimes I forget that I have a list. I'm only six weeks post-op, no ovaries and no HRT. I was hoping it was after effects from the anesthesia.

And that reminds me, I need to make another list for today. Big day today, I have to see my doctor for my six weeks check-up and DH told me once again this morning to ask her if she can refer me to a vein specialist (I keep forgetting). I've had a major overhaul this year (4 surgeries for various broken down parts) and if I get the veins done, I'm hoping I'll be good to go another 44 years, lol!

Re: Who took my brain cells

I don't have them either.. lol... but I think they took mine too... I have never had to make lists like I do now.. at 3wks post op I walk into the bedroom to get a pillow or something simple like that and forget why i went in there... or i'll go into the kitchen for something to drink and as soon as my foot hits the tile i turn around and walk out with no drink... i think they forget to tell us we might be a lil loopy for quite some time after we have our hysto's.... that or they did take brain cells...

hope it gets better for ya... and for all of us...

Re: Who took my brain cells

I agree I feel as if when they took everything they also included my brain. I have even forgotten to pay certain bill or mail them off. I have to make a list or put it by my purse so I don't forgot. Just last night I went to tak a movie back to blockbuster and they called me saying there was no movie in the case. I think I've lost my mind.

Re: Who took my brain cells

Could be thyroid. It's more likely hormones and if son, may even be temporary.

That's an excellent point. I was feeling pretty fuzzy-headed for the 1st couple weeks back at work. I had an appt to recheck my thyroid levels a little over a week ago and the dr. said they were still low and doubled the dose of my meds. I think I've noticed a difference in both my energy level and alertness. I do think a great deal of it is the hormones or loss of hormones though. I just read that a Vit B Complex can help, so I'm starting that too.

Re: Who took my brain cells

I can't tell you how many times I've said they took my brain along with my uterus! I can't focus and forget things from one minute to the next. I took an insurance test yesterday at a job interview. I've been in the business 15 years and have my license but I only made a 68 on the test! I know way more than 68% of what was on there. I kept reading the questions over and over, the answers just didn't make sense!

Oh brain, oh brain, where have you gone?

I am on thyroid meds and anti-depressants already. I just need my brain replaced!

Re: Who took my brain cells

I was really feeling that way prior to my surgey (10 days ago). I must admit, since the surgery, I am feeling exactly the opposite. I hope I am not on the same course as you ladies, and it will not get worse for me - I was bad before, and am not sure how I would function if it got any worse than that! lol

Re: Who took my brain cells

I laughed when I saw this. I too, felt like the dr took my brain out with all the plumbing and told him so. I had made reservations for a weekend in Gatlinburg and couldn't remember the hotel, called all of them and still never found it. Oh well, but this too will pass. Hang in there ladies!!!!!

Re: Who took my brain cells

I'm with you and I sure hope eventually my brain functions normally (or at least as normal as preop). It was an unexpected side effect of the surgery.
