Anyone thinking of a tattoo??

Just wondering if anyone thinks of getting a tattoo for being a hystersister!! I got one for support of breast cancer, grandma is battleing it now. But I have thought of getting myself one that said hyster sister with a princess crown?? It may be silly, but just a thought. Anyone else???

Well, if i got one a foot wide it might just cover the hyster scar. LOL!
I can't get a tattoo, they scare me..but, could be fun for others!

Re: Anyone thinking of a tattoo??

I would wait on that one for at least a year. And yeah it does seem silly, because everyone will ask you about it and it is your personal business. No need to be walking Medical Record....

Re: Anyone thinking of a tattoo??

Yes, I hadn't wanted one until I was told I needed a hysterectomy. Then for some reason it seemed appropriate to have something visually pleasing on my body to acknowledge my sexual abuse of the past and to honor and celebrate the new life I've been given thanks to surgery. Once I'm totally healed, I'm getting a tattoo near my surgery scars of a petroglyph type drawing done by the ancient Native Americans on a wall in Chaco Canyon - a spiral within a hand print. To me it represents the constant change and growth throughout life as well as being able to hold your own life in your hands. It also will represent my Dr's hands in finally freeing my body from pain and disease. I'm looking forward to getting it!

Re: Anyone thinking of a tattoo??

I'll apologize in advance for this reply...

I'm in a really bad mood due to current docs that will probably end in me having to cancel surgery and start all over again with new gyn and new urogyn...

so the only tattoo I could envision me getting today would be a pair of lips on my lower butt that would be seen by both with exams...

Maraen, it is a nice idea... an ode to hystersisters which I do appreciate as well...

Re: Anyone thinking of a tattoo??

I turned 40 in January and said I was going to get one but chickened out. After all of this and the amazing changes in my life, I just might do that!!!

Thanks for reminding me. I think I'll get a butterfly because I've come out of my coccoon (sp?). and I feel so free now!!!

Well I thought of it more as a great obstacle in my life. Nothing about being a walking medical record. But to be proud of all the bumps and hills I have had along the way. Thats all I was getting at.

Re: Anyone thinking of a tattoo??

I started designing my next tattoo while recovering from my SAH. My DH told me to go for it, I guess he thought I've been through enough already and deserve it. My only problem is where is there a safe place on my body that may not be sliced open?!?!?! My SAH was my 16th surgical procedure, but my 1st non-orthopedic.

Not sure where it's going, but I'm designing a Chinese Paper Cut of a Monkey and my daughter's name in Chinese letters. She's adopted from China and born in Year of the Monkey. Haven't decided if I want her birth date, adoption date or both on it. They're the same day, just 1 year apart!

Get a tattoo ladies for yourselves! Who cares what people say or think. It's something for you and only you.
