Bleeding & Pain post-op

I had a LAVH on the 13th october for Adenocarcinoma-in-situ of the cervix. I believe that I've had the rest of my cervix and uterus removed - the ovaries remained.

Last year I had two surgeries, a LLETZ and Cone Biopsy of my cervix. After both, I remember some bleeding and some discomfort. It was worse with the Cone Biopsy because I'd had such a massive chunk removed.

I know that I had practically no cervix left, but I have felt NO discomfort down there at all, and practically no bleeding at all. Surely if the rest of my cervix was removed there would be bleeding and discomfort? Hubby says that my surgeon is just very good. I'm fearful that he didn't take all my cervix, which was the whole reason for the surgery, as if it wants to turn into invasive cancer it's going to do it in the cervix first.

I'm going to ring my specialist tomorrow but I just wanted to see if this was something that someone else has gone through.

Re: Bleeding & Pain post-op

Hi Maiestro~

I had a total abdominal hysterectomy on 10/5. I have had some abdominal pain but no bleeding at all after the first day or two. I have been through some procedures that caused me horrible pain - like getting an IUD put in which was painful because of my endometriosis, or my pelvic ultrasound recently when I was tentatively diagnosed with adenomyosis (that was so painful I thought I was going to throw up). The pain from the hysterectomy is more dull and continuous but is getting better.

I also have a long history of abnormal paps because I have HPV and I've had cryo and LEEP in the past. I know that for me, the fear of cancer has been insidious and illogical, but it has been there nonetheless. I would not assume that the surgeon did not remove your cervix because you don't have pain; call him is you need to allay your fears but I bet a billion dollars that the hysterctomy just went better than you thought it would - and that's a GOOD thing.
Wishing you a continued pain-free recovery and freedom from the fear of cancer...

Re: Bleeding & Pain post-op

I had a daVinic LSH 10/5. I had VERY light discharge (I wouldn't say really bleeding at all, just a little bit of light pink) for about 3 days and nothing since. I have had ZERO pain in my vagina - and my cervix was removed. I told my doctor at my post op this week, that if I had not known he had done something down there, aside from a slight bit of "pressure" there during my first post op bm, I would not have ever thought he did anything in my vaginal region. I wouldn't worry, it sounds to me like you have a great surgeon like me! BTW 3 days post op, I was in complete disbelief that I had just gone through MAJOR surgery. Aside from tenderness at my incision sites, I have no other effects and feel AMAZING! (I do get tired if I over do it, and am really trying to take it easy for the next couple of weeks)

Hope this helps!
