Re: Any suggestions in preparation for surgery?

The pre-op checkpoints on this website are really good, suggestions for getting your home ready, rallying your support team, writing down all your questions to take with you to pre-op appt, etc. Check them out if you haven't already. Will be praying for you...Annie

Re: Any suggestions in preparation for surgery?

First do what you can to remain calm. Believe what all the sisters have said, and I can attest to. My TAH was last Wednesday, the 14th, and I was a panic-y mess! The WAITING IS THE WORST PART. Remember that if nothing else. The evening of the TAH you'll be pretty tired and just want to sleep, so even though I didn't think I would need it, I bought one of those sleep masks and boy was I glad I did. Bring some headphones and music, also, if you think that will help cancel out hospital noise. Best wishes and prayers to you,

Re: Any suggestions in preparation for surgery?

In addition to reading the pre-op checkpoints, I found the articles and helpful hints really useful. Good luck to you with your surgery. I hope it goes as smoothly as mine did.

Re: Any suggestions in preparation for surgery?

Biggest thing that helped me was finding stuff to do while you wait. Waiting IS the hardest part of a TVH. I read everything and anything on here about what was going to or could happen.

I packed my bags according to stuff on here...and then used very little of it. It's a good guideline, and better to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it. So while I had to unpack it all once I got home...or days later anyway...I'm glad I had options just in case.

Good luck!
