Pre Cancerous cells and pregnant

Hi Ladies,

I am currently 16 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child. 2 years ago I have treatment for pre cancerous cells on my cervix which was not pleasant at all and has frightened me to death!!

I am considering going seeing my GP after I have had my baby to discuss having a hysterectomy as I do not want to have it come back again and next time it could be too late.

I am 31, will be 32 shortly after this baby is born, and I know that I definately do not want anymore children.

I have been having trouble with my period for as long as I can remember and I am really amazed that I managed to concieve baby no 3!

I just want to be around to watch my children grow up and be here for them when they need me.

I am not sure if my GP will agree to me having the surgery though. What do you think?

It can't hurt to ask your questions. I think if it were me I would want to take steps to prevent getting it. Best wishes for your pregnancy!

Re: Pre Cancerous cells and pregnant

Hi Cathy,

I can understand you want to see your children grow up!

However, at the other hand, a hysterectomy is a big surgery! Isn't there another way of keeping good watch? In a lot of cases, after the treatment of pre cancerous cells it won't come back at all! What about a regular once a year PAP smear?

The best thing I suppose is to discuss this with your GP. Best wishes for your pregnancy!
