Testosterone 2.5% cream ?

I just picked this up from a compound pharmacy. I am only to use 1/5 gram. Just a little nervous about starting it and reading as much as i can. Just looking for some feed back.
Thanks

Re: Testosterone 2.5% cream ?

I am using the compound testosterone cream. At the beginning, I used a pea size amount daily for 14 days, then now only 2-3 times a week. I have noticed that it does help.

Re: Testosterone 2.5% cream ?

Okay, just to clarify, are you saying it does help with the libido? I went off mine because I was just very mean and irritable. I was on Androgel and it was a huge squirt. Any advice?

love2craftjac -

What type of feedback are you looking for? I've been on compounded Testosterone for about 2.5 months. I was on 2% (I think that is the % don't have the tube in front of me) 1/2 gram in the morning and evening but apparently on my last blood test things were whacky so my Dr. backed me off a bit. I will have another blood test in about 4 weeks to see how the lowered dose is doing.

I have felt better, more myself and it has helped the libido. Remember it may need to be adjusted over time just keep in contact with your Dr. and have them do the bloodwork. Different things work for different people.

Re: Testosterone 2.5% cream ?

I am taking a 2% cream at 1/2 ml 3x a week. It's taken me a year to stay on track. I had to write it down and stick it to my mirror! (BTW, I was using it daily in the beginning and became very mean and irritable as well)

Re: Testosterone 2.5% cream ?

I did a check on my prescription and it is only a .5% creme. She had me using it 2x day initially a 1/2 gram each dose which I believe would have given me 1%. However after a blood test, after 6 weeks she determined this was too much and cut me back 1/4 gram so I'm only getting .5%. I will do another blood test in a couple of weeks and see how that goes.

Re: Testosterone 2.5% cream ?

(((love2craftjac))) a 2.5% testosterone cream is pretty strong even for a woman without ovaries. Since you still have yours, chances are you are producing at least some testosterone of your own. I'm kind of surprised your doctor would prescribe this for you. Did you get your serum levels of free and total testosterone checked, as well as liver function and lipids (cholesterol)?

You will be getting:

1/5 gram of cream x 25mg/gram of cream = 5mg of testosterone per use

In contrast, when I started on testosterone (and I do not have ovaries), I used about 1/4 gram of cream x 10mg/gram of cream = 2.5mg of testosterone per use. I started off using it daily for two weeks; after that I transitioned down to 2-3 times a week and then even less after a while. That was about seven years ago; nowadays I do not need to use it at all.

I would be very careful about using too much of such a strong cream. It may be tempting to use more, or use it more often, if you don't see results right away -- DON'T. It takes a while to build up in your tissues and the effect can sort of sneak up on you, resulting in your having actually too much, and too much is hard to get rid of. If you start noticing oily skin or acne, or an irritated feeling, back off right away.

Expect that it will take a few weeks to see results.

[By the way, using a 1% cream twice a day, for example, does not give you 2%. The cream is still 1% concentration; what changes is how many mg of hormone you get. ]

I hope this helps. Good luck!

s,
-Linda
