Passing Large Blood Clots 7 days post op

Had TVH with ovaries and tubes removed on 10/27. Comfortable recovery, but 3 days ago passed 3 huge (twice the size of golf balls) clots and had excessive bleeding. After the 3rd clot, the bleeding subsided. I went to the hospital and was examined by OB-GYN who told me it was either left over from surgery or a vessel that had burst, bled, then cauterized itself. No problems since, only continuing light bleeding. Has anyone else experienced this? How long is light bleeding expected to last?

I have not had this happen to me but wanted to ask you how you are doing today? Anymore bleeding? I only bled the first 2 days but I know some ladies said they have had light bleeding for several weeks. I am glad you went to the ER so you know that you arent still actively bleeding inside. I would have been scared to see clots coming out, glad it did not require further surgery or treatment for you.

I did have a similar experience!

I had had internal bleeding which created a large abdominal bulge. My GYN said that typically the body reabsorbs all that blood. However, my body didn't cooperate and I ended up passing most if not all of it vaginally! During that time, I had a day where I passed a clot the width of a softball. When I arrived at the GYN's office that afternoon, he pulled out, scraped, etc. more blood an ick! I was okay but it wasn't the end of my bleeding for a total of 12 weeks.

Typical bleeding can last anywhere from 4-6 weeks so don't be alarmed if you have light bleeding/spotting off and on until then.

If you have any more large clots or the blood is bright red and filling a pad an hour, call your doctor.

Sending extra s and best wishes your way!

Thanks for all of the info./advice. I had my surgery on 10/27th. Other than that first horrid experience, I haven't had any additional complications...just the continued light bleeding and sometimes a feeling of downward pressure in the vaginal area.

I am taking my doctor's and all of your advice to take it easy!!!

Thanks!
