tilted cervix

I have adenomyosis and all through my life I have been told my cervix is tipped-they tell my daughter that too. finally the np explained that my uteris is like a goose neck to my cervix. you know the gourd that has that goose neck thing, my cervix is at the end of the neck, they really have to look for it and let me tell ya it hurts always has. so here's my question-a woman I work with said you have no vagina afterwards-did not understand that. to me because my cervix is so far back I would have a longer vagina. she's a bit older than I am and I know my husbands issue is sex...mine too but has anyone else been told their cervix is tipped? My daughter and I figure thats why we are able to get pregnant so easily. well was able for me. I'm really not sure what is getting removed. I was a bit out of it when my doc was explaining. but he's the first to ever tell me what is causing my pain, my indegestion, my weird periods. its been a long time I am freaked out about the procedure and recovery but I really want to live my life pain free without wondering when does it start.

Re: tilted cervix

Hi Holly469,

I have a tilted uterus and adenmyosis too, I think the "technical" terms is retroverted. My doctor also told me that my cervix is long, which I thought was strange, so he's taking that out with the uterus. I also have had no problem getting pregnant and my daughter is 18 so I hope she has a problem until she is at least 27 and married.

I am scheduled for a TVH or total vaginal hysterectomy. The retroverted uterus has reaked havoc on my bladder and I had a episotomy with the 18-year-old so, long story short I need anterior (bladder) and posterior repairs (rectum?).

I will have a vaginal cuff. Which means they suture (sew) the end of the vagina together because there is no cervix. I would like to keep my cervix but I have too much stuff going on and he doesn't want to risk another surgery in the future due to bladder issues. I have one friend that kept her cervix and she is like a rabbit. I have another friend that didn't keep her cervix and she is like a rabbit. They both kept their ovaries and I think thats why they are both like rabbits. Neither could enjoy sex until after the surgery. As long as the hormones are pumping from the ovaries I'm not too worried and that seems to be what most people try to keep.

I think that adenomyosis and tilted uterus is too much for any woman to handle and its sure been hell for me. I hope this helps.

What type of surgery are you having?

Re: tilted cervix

I'm having laparascopic(sp) I can't say it either neither can my daughter. she is 29 and has had 2 csections first was horrible. she was so out of it. and now shes off the pill trying to get preg again-we lost our precious Isabella to SMA(spinal muscle atrophy) her first child, we have a grandson Cayden. I just worry so much about her because I would imagine her pain will be worse, but at least she can see what I've been through, I was at her house 2 wks ago and had to go to ER. my docs always said "its normal for you" took a new foreign dr from Egypt to tell me what the heck is wrong...I am freaking out but today was a bad day-the constant nagging shooting pain down my leg and after lunch so uncomfortable with indigestion.
why are we the ones that have to suffer-we do it ALL!

Re: tilted cervix

yeah, but hopefully the pain will be gone after surgery. I am about to pick my daughter up now, she's home for the first time since starting college.

Its sad that we can see our daughter sufferring and can't help. Thats what i hate about being a parent, feeling helpless and not being able to protect 100% of the time.

I wish you and your daughter the best and you are in my prayers.
