I have Multiple Myeloma

Last year I had a TAH/BSO , the day after I got home from the hospital , my oncologist called and said I have Multiple Myeloma . This is a cancer of the blood cells. My sister in Montana called and cried that she would not be able to come to my funeral.I told her to save her money because I plan on living another 40 years. My sister from Louisville OH said I should wait until I had recovered from my hysterectomy before I started chemotherapy, but I didn't listen to her either.I had a chemoport installed and started chemo: Doxcil ,Vinicristine , and Decadron. I also was started on Aredia ; which strengthens your bones and stops the excess calcium which was being released from my bones. I asked my oncologist a LOT of questions , and called 1 800 4 CANCER , and searched google.com. I had six months of Chemo , and am now in remission. My hair is growing back and it is thicker & curly now. Multiple Myeloma is not curable YET !!My book " Land of the Hyster Sisters was great . I had to keep my tummy pillow close while reading it I really appreciated all the help and encouragement Cyd and others gave me .
Love you all , Merna

Hi Merna!!

What a wonderful inspiring story! So happy to hear you are in remission! Its not a bad place to be thats for sure!!

I also started chemo very soon after my hyster. ( 10 days after), and its strange but because of that I don't remember alot of discomfort or pain from the healing of the hysterectomy. I think the illness from the chemo helped take my mind off of that.

I am so happy your chemo was a success also. Its such good news, and more and more chemo and radiation are giving us a second chance at life!!!

All the best to you, and please drop by often and let us know how you are doing!!

Hugs!!
Maria
