good news on final pathology.

Hi there -- had to share.

Stage 1A/1 End. adenocarcinoma. How much better could it get. See him (gyn/onc) in three months.

Just got home from the doctor. So relieved.

Thank you everyone for your amazing support. Shirl

Re: good news on final pathology.

Thanks for the good wishes. This is just one example of why it's so important to have a gyn/onc. do the procedures. He can tell right away when looking at the organs and doing the frozen sections. Another suggestion I have for everyone is get copies of everything. I got them all. Unfortunately, I had to learn that lesson from my wonderful husband who died from Non Hodgkins 8 years ago. And take a tape recorder whenever you see any doctor. These are lessons hard leaned.

Re: good news on final pathology.

Congratulations and now you have another reason to give thanks tomorrow. I was told right out of surgery that they didn't "think" they saw any cancer and that was a huge relief, but I was still anxious to get that final pathology report.

Re: good news on final pathology.

Catarina -- the onc. told my family right after surgery "no invasion" but until I saw it on paper, that's when it came home to roost. Happy for you also. Have a great holiday. Shirl

Re: good news on final pathology.

I remember the first thing I thought when I opened my eyes in recovery was "cancer?" but I didn't want to ask the nurse. I just didn't want to get that kind of news from her. I was wheeled to my room right after that and it was the 1st thing I asked my husband, but I remember I was afraid to say the words. When he told me "no cancer", I about cried. My dr. came in a few min's later and told me again and then apologized profusely for the vertical incision. Ha!! He could've diced me like an onion if it'd been necessary. I was just glad he was as diligent as he was and had an oncologist assist. This is a very good reminder for why I need to be so thankful as well.
