Kept ovaries - having hot flashes night sweats and being overly emotional - normal?

Hi...I havent posted anything on here before im sorry just shy i guess. Im 29 and had my hysterectomy on the 11th. The Dr left my ovaries because im so young. I was wondering if any of you kept your ovaries as well and if so are you having hot flashes night sweats and being overly emotional? Im experiencing these and just wanted to know if it "normal". My dr said i cant do anything for 6-8 weeks. im at 2 weeks recovery and completely bored. Im just getting annoyed cause i cant do anything i feel like im going nuts

Kept ovaries - having hot flashes night sweats and being overly emotional - normal?

Hi Eva,

I'm 32 and had my abdominal hysterctomy on the 10th. My dr. also left my ovaries because I am so young. I have not experienced any hot flashes or night sweats. You should not be getting those as your ovaries are still intact, from what I understand. I have been warmer at night, only because I think I am moving around less when I sleep. I am also using extra pillows and such. I feel you for the boredom...it really sucks!!

I understand too. I get very bored. I still have my ovaries to and have those smae things once in awhile. I have had a pretty emotional week. I'm only a week and a half out yet so hoping my ovaries wake up again soon...

Re: Kept ovaries - having hot flashes night sweats and being overly emotional - norma

I am 36, I kept my ovaries but I did find myself asking people if I felt like I was running a fever the first few days and I was waking up sweating. I was told the ovaries have to wake up.

Re: Kept ovaries - having hot flashes night sweats and being overly emotional - norma

Thank you so much...I thought i was losing my mind. I havent talked to my dr since before my surgery so im not really even sure exactly what they did. I only know what they were supposed to do. My app with my dr is the first week of dec. Im so glad i found this site, really makes you feel not so alone. Sometimes I just feel like im burning up and apparently i freeze my family out of the house. And the littlest things will make me cry and then in the same breath i get so aggitated at the person who made me cry...lol I guess this is all part of recovery

I know !! My boyfriend proposed last Tuesday, three days before surgery. I have flipped out on him several times and cry and get upset about silly things but he hasn't left my side. I am so glad I found this site, I read all of these post and smile because I know that there are women here that know exactly how I feel and it is nice to know I am not alone

Re: Kept ovaries - having hot flashes night sweats and being overly emotional - norma

Its 12:30 now...im having insomnia now as well. This is the third night in a row I take prescription sleep aids and there not helping. UGH!!! This is really getting frustrating. Anyone else having the same problems? Or maybe other problems...Im really tired and want to sleep on top of the other issues that i posted earlier. Im also still in some pain although its starting to get better. Its not a constant pain any more it comes and goes. And my belly is shrinking alot i was so happy to be able to see my feet yesterday

Re: Kept ovaries - having hot flashes night sweats and being overly emotional - norma

I have one ovary and I had hot flashes early on both during the day and night. I noticed that over the first 2 weeks they decreased in number and only to night time and since have stopped. They can go into a sort of shock from the trauma of surgery which stops or decreases their functioning.

As far as the insomnia goes, it seemed to be less of an issue as my ovary woke back up.

I still have pain because I'm doing too much, apparently. I tried not to walk up and down the stairs any more than I absolutely had to today and I have a lot less pain!

My belly shrinks and grows, not sure why. Probably related to the doing too much or being good!

I honestly didn't know I was doing too much until I started to do a lot less today and then, wahlah! less pain.

Re: Kept ovaries - having hot flashes night sweats and being overly emotional - norma

I have the same thing with swelling...it goes up and down. It really helps knowing that others are having the same symptoms. This has all been really scary for me. There have been a couple of days where ive over done it a bit. But I really didnt have a choice. Im hoping the hot flashes go away soon they are driving me nuts I just cant get comfortable. I really hope everyone is well and had a great Thanksgiving

I had a TAH, kept both ovaries, and had hot and cold flashes for 3 weeks. I also had a fever for about 3 weeks. It all went away without any complications, and I feel fine now (just a little tired sometimes).
