Clots 3 weeks after Lapro

Had lapro November 7, felt great, just a "blush" spotting until November 15, now clotting daily between 4 to 6, size about a fifty cent piece. Was seen in office on the 16th and was told not to worry, but they are getting heavier. Any advise?

Re: Clots 3 weeks after Lapro

Hi Shenavirago,

Just like you, about three weeks post op I began to pass clots. They became quite large and I ended up in the ER one night where they did internal exams to determine that my cuff had not torn. It hadn't. I visited my gyne about 4 days later, she did internal and said it sometimes happens during healing for bleeding to occur. She then used a liquid (I can't remember the exact name but want to say silver oxide?) brushing it onto the internal suture line. The clotting stopped for 2-3 days then started again. I went back she did the liquid procedure again and that was the end of it. The clotting stopped.

The bottom line is, it's your body and if you feel unsure about any part of your post op healing you deserve to be heard by your doctor. I would schedule another appointment. On the niight of my first clots I called my gyne who said "clotting is definitely not normal come in".

let us know how you go. Di.

Re: Clots 3 weeks after Lapro

Di ~ thanks for the response. I talked with dr. earlier today and he didn't seem concerned and said to wait until my appointment on Tuesday. I'm still passing clots but promised my family that if I fill a pad in 2 hours that I'll go to the er. You are correct about what your dr. used, Silver Nitrate, it's on HysterSisters

Thanks ~ Tam
