Is sweeping as bad as vacuuming?

Just wondering - My kitchen floor looks awful. DH vacuumed last night just enough space for me to fold clean laundry today - I like to sit on the floor and fold. I know he would vacuum tonight if I asked him, but I feel like I should be doing more around here if that makes sense.

Re: Is sweeping as bad as vacuuming?

When I was having back problems, I was told both sweeping and vacuuming were no-no's. So I would say the sweeping isn't a good idea. I took it easy for the full six weeks following my hyster and am glad I did. No problems!! Take care of yourself. Enjoy your princess status!! Good luck in your recovery. {{hugs}}

Re: Is sweeping as bad as vacuuming?

Its a no no to sweep. My dr said not to for 6 weeks. I had 4 c-sections before this and I will listen or you pay for it later.

Re: Is sweeping as bad as vacuuming?

I echo the two responses above - nothing for 6 weeks. I had 3 c-sections and folllowed my doctor's advice and healed very well each time. No doubt it is hard to stand back and ask someone else to do it. I have 2 large dogs and am being driven MAD by all the dog hair! I do run the hand held dustbuster across the floor when things look bad, but other than requiring me to bend over, it requires no push/pull motions and strain on the abdominals. Give yourself the time to heal - you only have one chance to do it right.

Re: Is sweeping as bad as vacuuming?

pLEASE do a search on this site for the checkpoints which will help guide you on what you should be doing. I don't think sweeping would be as bad as vaccuming, but you shouldn't be sweeping yet. You seem like you know better. And as far as you "should" be doing it, stop shoulding on yourself! ;-)

Take care,

Re: Is sweeping as bad as vacuuming?

NO sweeping for at least 6 is difficult I know but you will be better off if you don't!

Re: Is sweeping as bad as vacuuming?

Yes sweeping is just as bad!!! Please do not do it. You really want to heal all the way inside so you do not cause any problems later. Trust me, the dirt will still be there when you are ready. Just let it be for now.
