Re: scheduled dec 16 removal of ovaries kinda scared

I totally understand being scared. I think most of us were at some point before our surgeries.

I had a total hyst with cervic and ovaries(well, the one they could find) removed. It was absolutely the right choice for me.

Biggest piece of advice? This is one I didn't take seriously enough and I suffered the consequences. Take it easy after surgery. Don't push yourself too much and don't try to do to much. Let others take care of you for a while.

Molly, I am scheduled for the same date and the same procedure. I am so anxious!!! Being as the time of year, there is so much to do and men just don't seem to have that sense of urgency that women do. I am trying to save my ovaries . I have pre-op this Weds. and have tons of ???? for doctor.

Re: scheduled dec 16 removal of ovaries kinda scared

I am 5 weeks post op from hysterectomy and ovary removal ( I kept my cervix). It was scary, but I can honestly say I made the right choice by getting it done. The first 3 weeks were tough recovery wise for me because I wasn't expecting it so don't get discouraged about the healing seeming slow at first. I recommend ice packs for your belly after surgery...that really helped me.

Good luck!

Re: scheduled dec 16 removal of ovaries kinda scared

My biggest tip is remember you have just had major surgery and only have one time to heal correctly. I have had very little pain, so I "forget" that I can't do somethings. Thankfully the thing I did, didn't cause any problems, but scared me enough that I have decided to spend alot more time in the recliner, walking alot and very little otherwise.

I was calm about surgery at first, then got very nervous the last week before surgery. Day of surgery I was very calm, I think the positive attitude before surgery helped in my easy recovery so far. Just my opinion as we each feel and heal differently.

Sending good luck prayers for your surgery and healing hugs for a speedy recovery!!!!!!
