Thigh Pain and Numbness

My right outer thigh has been numb and painful still 2 years after my Total abdominal hysterectomy. I know the weird feeling you talk about when shaving your leg in that spot.

I had my hysterectomy on November 30, 2009. I know the pain and numbness in the thigh area that you speak of. I have the same problem now. I was hoping it would go away as I continue to recover. Does anyone know what causes it?

I don't know what causes it unless it is the position they have you in during surgery possibly, just thought I would share my experience with the numbness. Maybe another sister will come along to explain it to us.
I know the numbness you speak of from when I had knee surgery 10 yrs ago, it is still numb & tingly when I shave my legs. I now have a numb spot on my inner upper arm from the hyster. last month, my Dr. said it is most likely from the way my arms where positioned during surgery & should heal in 6-8 weeks-(still numb & I am 6 weeks post-op now). My thought is that when the tech put the band around my arm for the inserting of the IV, he pinched the skin in that area. I had a HUGE dark bruise (right where the band had been) when I came home from the hospital the night after surgery.
The arm numbness is the only complication from surgery so I am not complaining- had very little pain during recovery.

My Dr. said one of the complications was nerve damage from the position you are in during surgery. She tries to put her patients in a position that this won't happen. Good luck it still could go away.
