Re: Bowel Prep - What Joy!!!

My surgery date is not set yet and I've had time to find out about all this stuff, but I still don't think I'm quite ready for bowel prep! I'm sorry you're uncomfortable, and I hope you find comfort in numbers since many of us have been or will be in your place.

Take care!

Re: Bowel Prep - What Joy!!!

Hi Bestfuture,

Oh I know the bowel prep is no fun!
I accused my doctor of impossing cruel treatment
as he talked with me before surgery... he did not see the humor in my statement

Hang in there I hope your surgery goes well and you have an easy recovery.

Re: Bowel Prep - What Joy!!!

turtle avenger - It's really not too bad. The worse part so far for me is how cold I am. I'm having to drink 8 oz of the cold liquid every 15 minutes and that sure sends your core body temp down (brrrrrrrr)

car^go - Thanks so much! Your use of emoticons conveys so much that I grinned from ear to ear - way to put a smile on a suffering sister's face!!

Re: Bowel Prep - What Joy!!!

The bowel prep was the worst part of it for me. I ended up having to not only use the GoLitley but also had to use Miralax as well because the first prep wasn't working. I had been on clear fluids x24 hours prior so that was a blast. Then the stupid prep wasn't working so had to call M.D. and he said to get Miralax over the counter and drink all of it unless it started working. I ended up using 1/2 the container of Miralax. The good news was that after the surgery, the doctor told me it was so much easier because I was totally cleaned out-YEAH!!! I wasn't impressed too much until he told me that it made it much easier for him and thus for me in my recovery. Hang in there it will be over soon and before you know it, you will be recovering. I will be thinking of you and wishing you all the best.

Re: Bowel Prep - What Joy!!!

For me the bowel prep was not too bad. I had to drink 2 bottles of Citrate Magnesium. I had to start it around 2 and I was done by around 8 and in bed by 10.

Good luck with your surgery.

Re: Bowel Prep - What Joy!!!

My turn for bowel prep is tomorrow. I have to do the clear liquid diet, which could get interesting because I'm diabetic too, and around noonish, I start Magnesium Citrate. As I recall, mag citrate cleans you out pretty quick so I've already got my vats of jello and my drinks and all that prepared.

I've done a bowel prep before so I have a fair idea of what to expect (which is both a good and a bad thing, let me tell you).

Re: Bowel Prep - What Joy!!!

Oh That was the worst. I was on clear liquids 2 days before!! I was so hungry I thought I was going to die.

I used koolaide to get it down.,

I have to say that the prep was almost worst than the surg.

Hang in there. Good Luck with your surg.

You will be FINE
