Re: Hysterectomy @ 26 not sure? symptoms?

Im 28 with everything u described and a bit more. Im going in on the 23rd for a total hysterectomy by davinci, they will take my ovaries as well. Im a bit nervous but I keep thinking about how much relief I will have and the possibility that I can lead a normal life and my son (10) wont have to see me screaming and crying doubled over with a heating pad more often than not. Its an individual decision and I hope you can get some relief no matter what you decide. good luck I hear the worst part is the waiting and Ill know for sure real soon!

I am so sorry you are in so much pain!

Because a hysterectomy is a major surgery with a lot of risks and it does not cure all GYN issues, such as endometriosis, it is very important that you weigh all the pros and cons to determine if this surgery is right for you. It is okay to be scared about this major surgery!

What options have you tried for each of your diagnoses? Do you have an endo specialist by any chance? Since you have endometriosis, you need to be sure that what ever you decide, you have a knowledgeable surgeon who is able to actually recognize and remove any endo that is found. My GYN could not do that and thus I had to have more surgery after my hysterectomy.

We have a lot of information in our Resource Database about each of your diagnoses and the treatment options for each of them. If you have not tried any of them, you might want to consider some of them first. We also have an Endometriosis Forum where you can post specific endo questions if you would like!

I did have my hysterectomy for endometriosis when I was 25 so my goes out to you! I especially wish women in their 20's didn't have to consider this treatment option, especially if it is not a cure for our condition!

Re: Hysterectomy @ 26 not sure? symptoms?

I had my hyst and BSO at age 35 for endo/cysts and pain. Turns out I had adeno too and didn't know it. This week, 6 weeks out, I finally feel better than I have EVER felt in the last 5 years! And no hormone problems with my patch.

Wishing you peace and wisdom to figure out what is the best option for you. I agree with above - get another opinion on options!!!! I had a great doc in the past few years that carefully tried and covered options and potential results with me after having 2 prior gyn surgeries.

Re: Hysterectomy @ 26 not sure? symptoms?

I am 30 and have been asking for years for this, I have had endo since I was 13, I can feel your pain, on the 16th I had a TAH, I was tired of having weeks every month of not being able to do anything. This does not cure every problem out there, so please weigh your options carefully, and keep asking questions untill you get the answers your are okay with.

Re: Hysterectomy @ 26 not sure? symptoms?

I have been concidering this for a long time, about 2 years. But just untill recently did I tell the Doctor this is what I want to do.the last few weeks my pain and nasea have been so bad I get even worse headaches. My eyes are bloodshot and swollen in the morning. I loose my temper so fast because I can't think clearly. I'm so fustrated with having to deal with this. I am making the call today. I do understand that hysto is not the answer to everything and there is always that chance, but I am willing to take that chance. and my family (including my husband) is 100% behind me on this so I feel pretty good about it. thank you for your post I have checked everywhere for more support and this is the best place! Blessed be

Crystal
