Need someone to just listen

I am 1 week post op. I am still very weak but in very little pain. My DH has decided to get back on his usual schedule and stay up all night and sleep all day. I woke up and he went to bed. How do you do this alone? My Doc said go to the mall and walk. I have a very small apartment and no room to walk. It is terribly cold outside but i am trying very short walks anyway. I cannot drive. I am hungry. I am frustrated and have huge anxiety and he is asleep. Any ideas?

Sorry to hear this is happening...just some ideas.....

Wake him up, tell him to fix something to eat.
Do laps around the apartment....I did laps around my bedroom and our guest bedroom at all hours of the day or not.
Once your DH is awake ask him to take you to the mall.

Wake him up. You should not have to go through that alone. I did laps around my living room because I couldn't drive & was afraid to go outside alone so early. As long as you are moving, you should be fine. I, myself would avoid the mall because of all the sickness going around. Best wishes to you.

You shouldn't have to do this alone - wake him up!!! Remind him that it takes 6 weeks for you to recover and he needs to be looking after YOU, not himself. He needs to be sorting out food for you and making sure you're alright. Sorry rant over.

Be careful if it's cold outside and you want to go out walking. When there's snow or ice here I do laps round the house instead!

I am so sorry.

I can't drive yet, either (I am one week two days post-op). So, I have to rely on my husband. I needed to go to the bank today and he's playing Monopoly on the XBox with our 7 year old daughter. I asked him if he could take me to the bank and I didn't get an answer. So, I got dressed and said I was walking. Thankfully, we are just about two blocks away, but it's cold out there and I'm not feeling the greatest today. As soon as he saw I was serious, he got up and told me I wasn't walking!!

Now, I need to get to Target. We are about 45-50 miles from the nearest one. We have a wedding to go to on Saturday. My mom and sister both bought our daughter shoes, but they're too big. Plus, my mom bought me a bath robe and my husband bought me new pajamas - both are too small. I would like to get everything exchanged. I can't really threaten that I will walk to Target. Hopefully we will get there tomorrow.

I understand being hungry, too. My husband and I have VERY different tastes. He has been doing most of the cooking, so we eat what he makes. I either don't eat or make a sandwich or scrambled eggs. I just ordered in for all of us, so we don't have to really worry about dinner tonight. It was a late lunch, but there were leftovers if we get hungry later.

Good luck and HUGS!!

Re: Need someone to just listen

You will be glad that you took it easy for those first few weeks. I know I healed well because I followed the rules & I am so thankful. Take it easy!

Re: Need someone to just listen

Hang in there. I am 10 days post op and my hubby works night shift. So its hard.I have three kids and my oldest is having to help with the baby. Its rough..wake his butt up and make him help out. The hormones seemed better for me today...so maybe there is hope for us.
