weight gain/loss??

I am sure this has been discussed here before, but here goes, if you all don't mind!

Did you experience a weight gain or loss after your hyst? Or did your weight stay the same?

I hear different things, but I assume that after a major surgery, people tend to lose weight....am I wrong in assuming that?

Hi Grace, I had my hyst. on Aug. 8, 01 and so far no weight gain, i have lost a couple of pounds but no big deal, I too have read that it goes both ways for differant laidies, my main goal was just to not gain while doing nothing but laying around for 6 to 8 weeks, and I haven't so i am pleased with that, but I also did not have a problem with appetite while recovering either, i know that is a big factor in losing, and you must keep your strength up but not eat too heavy at the same time, just be sure to drink lots and lots of water and other fluids. Goodluck to you and keep coming back to this site, it truelly is a wonderful place with lots of wonderful ladies.

I am not quite 2 weeks post op and I have lost 8 pounds. Starting Monday I am really going to try to stay on a weight loss program. I need to lose at least 6 more pounds which I would like to do before I go back to work in 6 more weeks. That is a pound as week which is not unreasonable.

I didn't gain or lose..stayed exactly the same. I sure wish I would have lost some! I really didn't lose my appetite..was in the castly 23 hours..maybe the first couple of days I was home. Now that I'm thinking about it I even had the flu a week after my surgery and didn't lose even one ounce. Darn!
