Feeling worse now than I was 1st week!!

I had a LAVH on Jan 11th, and I sailed through the first week and most of the 2nd ....totally thought this was going to be a walk in the park! I was up and doing things by the 5th day...not anything too much but was up and moving and I started driving at a week post op, and did all my (simplified) mom duties with my 5 yr. old, but I gotta tell ya...this weekend I feel terrible! I hurt, and it is a different hurt than it's been, I feel like all the aches and pains of the surgery are gone (like the pain form the gas they use), now I just feel all the internal pain!! It is very local to "that" area. Maybe I was feeling it the whole time, but it was overshadowed by the other all over pains? I dunno...anyone else experience this?

Re: Feeling worse now than I was 1st week!!

i think you are moving to fast and us women tend to think we are super women.. but if you oush yourself to soon then you will keep taking steps back, one thing that kept me from moving to soon was i heard stories about developing adhesions and having to have surgery to remove them.. so slow down, i started driving week 3 just 2 and from work and that in itself was tiring but i make sure as hard as it is as soon as i get home i put my feet up and i am still not cleaning or sweeping, my 10 year old helps out a lot and my husband some days is tierd from work but still manages to cook and clean. and i tell him i much i appreciate him.. but you need to heal completely so you can be a 100% with no set backs.. pamper yourself

Re: Feeling worse now than I was 1st week!!

I had the same experience. The first week was a piece of cake. I actually stopped taking pain meds in the hospital. It wasn't until the end of the second week and most of the third week that I really felt bad.
I have to admit I was doing more than I should, dishes, cooking, dusting, etc. I didn't do any lifting but lots of bending and little resting.
I spent most of week three just resting. I feel a lot better now.
Try not to over do it (easier said than done).

Re: Feeling worse now than I was 1st week!!

Hi! I did exactly the same thing! Last wed. I all of a sudden got a horrid shooting pain in my right front between belly button and hip! At first, I thought aw this is like when I had my c-sect 18 years ago.
I'm only 41 almost 42 in a week! No, we need to slow down and when we are not use to moving slow it's really hard....one day at a time. I even hired someone to help me do errands and stuff a few times a week for a few more weeks. The pain scared me... Your not alone my friend!
