Nervous about 2nd surgery taking last ovary...

Hello, I have not been a good member here, I had a hysterectomy and removal of left tube and ovary October 2007 and after recovering I kinda disappeared...

Now, a little over 2 years after, I have cysts on the remaining ovary and the endometriosis came back. That lone ovary not only compensated for the lost one, it went into hormone overdrive!

I also had an unrelated infection of my cervix, treated with hardcore antibiotics.

We decided to go back in and take the right ovary and tube, leaving the cervix for support to the pelvic floor, burn up/cauterize all the endo spots, and pluck out the appendix while on the table. I am not nervous about any of this.

I AM nervous and scared of sudden surgical menopause at age 29... we decided to take a "wait and see" approach to HRT. I am married with 2 children and I have multiple sclerosis, this complicates things and I am worried how it will all combine after surgery...

I go in the hospital Tuesday, Feb. 2 and might go home that night, being a week away I return here for advice, tips, or even plain comisseration and understanding...

Heck even simply putting it all out here helps.

You are not alone I to 9 years ago had my left ovary removed and a volleyball size cyst on my right ovary but they were abel to save that one but the left one it was cancer.. luckily caught on time and not a reoccuring kind. but in this poass november in a check up mu onc doc who i still see once a year found a mass and it was huge on the last ovary i had, it was a complex cyst fluid filled with tissue and even with cat scan wasnt sur eif it was cancer, he said he didnt think t was but couldnt tell till he went in at this point he gave me my options and i told him dont even try to save my ovary and i wanted a full hysterectomy and i am also 29 years old married with one child 10 years old. I just wanted to lessen my chance of any cyst or tumors coming back any where in my lady aprts seein how i had thisone come back 9 years later and after the doc knew i was sure we went ahead with surgery.. i told him even if you get in there and mass is begnin remove everyhting and he did and yes it was begnin.. they did not put me on hrt hormones because of my age but did put me on birth control and it has worked great i feel like myself and do not notice a difference and have not been ceared for sex yet but have tried other things..lol and it seems like that is going to be fine to. its only been 3 weeks going on 4 but so far so good. good luck my prayers are with you..
