I said NO - for my health

I said no to a family member that wanted me to go somewhere with them today. YEAH!

For the back story - I had an unrelated doc appt yesterday -since I don't drive yet I got drug all over yesterday and was in and out of the van multiple times. I do like to shop, but just overdid it even though I wasn't up on my feet that long . I even sat in the van and didn't go into several places.

Last night - MAJOR pain. I was afraid I was having a kidney stone it hurt so bad in my abdomen, back and down my leg. It feels a lot better today. I'm thinking just the motion of getting in and out of the van is what made me sore? I didn't buy anything so no package lifting was involved.

But, when asked this morning WHEN I was going to go and help my family member do something they can do all by themselves, I just said NO - I'm still hurting from doing too much yesterday. I might look ok, but I still have a lot of healing left to do.

Wow, the reaction was unexpected. It was an understanding OK. I almost felt apologetic, but stopped myself.

So, moral of the story - don't be afraid to say NO.

Good for you. This is a time where you should be totally pampering yourself back to normalcy. That will not happen if you keep doing things that can either wait or be done by someone else.

Re: I said NO - for my health

Good for you! I have been saying no and laying low since the surgery as I do not want to overdo it or cause myself further pain or discomfort.

Plus, with this silly swelly belly, I can't wear anything but sweatpants anyway. GRR.

Re: I said NO - for my health

Still working on my No's here... I had a co-worker call and want to visit and I told her that it wouldn't be a good time with me having such pain since yesterday. She was totally cool and wanted to wait until I could enjoy the visit.

In my "old life" I would have said OK, and then probably hurt myself more trying to spiff my place up in a rush.

In the meantime, one of my family members offered to come and help me clean up before my company and get things tidied up.

I like saying NO!

But I still hate lounging around - this is making me crazy!

Good. Now put your feet up and rest.
Ps. Maybe lay off the shopping a lil.
