Waxing???

Another sister suggested that I not get waxed....

Really... I am going to be really bummed if I did not shave for a bit so I could...

I thought It would also be nice to not have to worry about hairy legs, pits or other bits...

She said there might be an issue of infection....

I was planning on going tomorrow.... So that is 9 days away from my surgery.

Help!

Re: Waxing???

Waxing your legs or armppits will not be an issue with your surgery.

HOWEVER, bikini or brazilian waxing is probably a big no-no. You need to get in touch with your DR and ask them if it is okay BEFORE you go to get waxed. If there is any chance of infection, etc. then your surgery could be postponed. You also need to be sure abour shaving the pubic area before you do for the same reasons above. Some DRs require you to be shaved and some do not. Personally, my DR required a shave, but not with a regular razor. It was done with an electric trimmer to avoid getting nicked and to also avoid the itchy regrowth period.

I hope that this helps some at least, and I hope that you get your DRs okay before you get anything done. Wish you the best with your hyst!!!

Re: Waxing???

I would ask your doc to be sure...

I would like to know how some people shave and wax? I have never in my life gotten an infection from either! LOL!!

Re: Waxing???

It really isn't that shaving or waxing will cause the infection. If there is an opening in the skin, there can be an increased chance of getting a secondary infection since the skin is already open. It just gives infection an easier pathway into the body. And an infection is not something you want to have to deal with in your recovery. You will already be having a lot of healing going on and an infection will just slow that down. And really, in the long run, if your legs are a bit hairy for a couple of weeks, does it really matter? When I went in for my 2 week check up, the nurse was surprised that my legs weren't hairy until I told her that my DH had shaved them for me.

Re: Waxing???

Lady Poet I understand what you are saying but at the same time I find it a bit extreme...if you get a paper cut or cut your finger with a kitchen knife you will have an opening in the skin and they are still going to do your surgery ;-) Also I don't know about you but IF I cut myself it's usually closed up in a day or so.....not a week later ;-)

I stick with my opinion of not worrying about it until you talk to your doctor and see what they suggest then do as they say
My Doctor is very cautious and still had no issue with me shaving the day before....

and as for myself hairy legs are a HUGE bother to me! LOL! I shaved them 3 days post op ....the minute I got home!! :-) LOL!
