Size of uterus..

I understand that a normal uterus weighs about 40 grams. My path report said mine weighed 150 grams. My doctor really didn't explain this to me. What does it mean?

Size of uterus..

Miss Emma,

My uterus weighed 170 grams, and my doctor said normal for someone who had no children (such as I) was around 80 grams. She said that my fibroid could have accounted for the extra weight. I have heard of women whose uteruses weigh several POUNDS. Ours were tiny by comparison, considering that there are 454 grams per pound (I think). Hope you are feeling well.

Ellen,

Thanks for the reply. Oh my!! I'm glad mine didn't weigh in in pounds!! I also had several fibroids so it makes sense that this would add to the weight of the uterus. I don't know why I'm so curious about my path report and what it said. It's really interesting I guess to know what was going on in there. Again, thanks!

Size of uterus..

I was curious about that too. My doctor said that the normal weight for a uterus is 60-80 grams and that mine was 140 grams. Seems like a big difference, but he said that was around the size it would be if you were about 4 weeks pregnant. I just know that I am glad that it is gone!!! Take care and best wishes to all.

Size of uterus..

Hi there!
My uterus was was so big that doc almost didn't get it through the vaginal area.......had grapefruit (2) sized fibroid embedded in the uterine walls along with a bunch of smaller ones! and yep weighed POUNDS! Lost 17 pounds after sugery......not sure how much was water and how much was sugery and how much was uterus but GADS. Operation took 4 hours........three more than predicted.
Don't worry about the whole mess though.....at least our troubes are gone gone gone......WOO HOO!
Think of the whole thing as an instant diet *laughing!*
Take care and HUG!

uterus size

My DR told me my uterus weighed 600 grams...10 times normal! I had only one fibroid, but it was 10.5 cm! I am soooo glad to be rid of this weight in abdomen! I have never had children. When I layed on my stomach, I felt like I was laying on a softball! I believe my DR put the size at a 15 week pregnancy. I'm with all of you...it is so nice to be rid of our problems!
