Hi Barb!
I'm 32 and scheduled for mine on 4/6. I however, will not have my ovaries. I've already parted with my left one in '06 due to a complex cyst. I now have another complex cyst on my right ovary so it too will have to go, and I'm choosing to be done with my uterus also. I mean, whats the fun of having surgery and no ovaries if I still have to have a period, right?!
I can totally relate about having a little one during recovery. My youngest just turned 1yo in Jan. I also have a 4yo, 6yo, and 9yo.
Luckily my on again off again partner will be keeping his son (the 1yo) at his place for a few days and helping with my housework, meals, older kids, etc. I already told the 2 oldest they are going to have to help me a lot.
My 4yo DD is going to her dad's grandmother's house and she told me she could stay as long as I needs her to, God bless her!
My 3 older ones are pretty independent for their ages. I will not be able to pick up my 1yo or really do alot involving his care for a while. He is big and very busy!
But I've been reading a lot of hysterstories in the post-op section though and its very encouraging! Many are up and around, driving and taking short walks, around 2wks post-op. Not all, but enough for me to have hope, lol.
And I do remember that with my last surgery recovery was better than I thought it would be, so I'm hoping thats the case this go round. And my DD was only about 8mo old then and it was okay, I did fine with minimal help.
I'm not gonna lie, its going to be nice to not do anything for awhile and get pampered since I'm ALWAYS tending to someone or something around here! But I'm not looking forward to the pain! All that sticks in my mind is the burning/stabbing pain where my incision was last time. Ugh.
It WILL pass and we WILL heal and we WILL feel better.
